LATEST CREATION - COTTAGE FEELS AND LEMON PEELS

Resting on a hilltop in Carlsbad overlooking the pacific ocean sits our project Cottage Feels and Lemon Peels. From the outside the home has beautiful cottage inspired details that remind you of homes in England but the interior needed a little love. Our main goal for this remodel was to preserve as much of the original home as possible. The wooden crisscross window panes and old brass accents throughout the home became our inspiration for the design throughout.

The Kitchen

The kitchen was gutted and became a complete blank slate when we got our hands on it, which made for a perfect canvas to start with. The original windows in this room inspired our backsplash tile selection as well as the wood detail on the island. Our client wanted to make this space feel as open and functional as possible, therefore we created two separate islands in this space. One for entertaining and one for cooking. We wanted to keep the colors in this room natural and neutral to accent the beautiful wood floors and backsplash tile, however we did add a small pop of mint green in the pendant lights, the perfect subtle color for this space.

The Fireplace

This is one of our favorite transformations in this house. Overall, this fireplace had great bones and was in good condition. The built ins needed a little updating and re-working. Because this fireplace sat in our clients living room we wanted to make sure we could accommodate a TV as well as fire-wood storage for the fireplace. In addition, we originally proposed painting the brick white however after the built-ins were installed we felt the space needed some contrast and painting the brick black was a no brainer.

The Guest Bathroom

Let’s just take a moment to appreciate the pink bathroom that existed before this remodel. As you can see in the before pictures even the toilet was pink! I mean come on, can a bathroom get more fabulous for 1950? Such a fun little bathroom, however we knew it all had to go. For this bathroom we wanted to create a serene space for our clients guests when they visited. We brought in the mint green color from the kitchen for the accent shower tile, a beautiful midcentury modern vanity and a fabulous statement light to complete this look.

The Master Bathroom

This space was a huge transformation. Our client wanted a master suite so we turned an old bathroom into a closet, a bedroom into a bathroom complete with a his and hers double vanity, a toilet room, a standing shower with a view and a soaking tub! The blue accent tile at the vanity and the marble tile throughout help make this space feel very luxurious!
