A FRESH START AT HOME WITH THE SISTERS
Learn a new language, travel somewhere on your bucket list, eat healthier… these are just a few resolutions we make for ourselves at the start of a new year. Sure, it’s important to make goals for yourself, but what about your home? Your home is a reflection of your personality and a clean, healthy home nourishes your well being! In addition to making new goals and resolutions for ourselves we need to create the same for our home. Spend some extra time cleaning certain areas in our home that are often neglected or rearrange pieces of furniture to create new perspective and appreciation. Set intentions for yourself AND your home this year!

HOUSE CLEARING
I light a fire in my house! HA! Yes, you heard that right! I light a cleansing fire in my house during the first new moon of the year. This is the perfect way to cleanse your space, set intentions for the new year and recharge your home!

In addition, I clean all the crystals in my home. I set them outside for the night during the new moon to allow them to recharge.

After I complete both of these tasks it’s like taking a breath of fresh air. My home feels lighter and a sense of clean energy fills my home! It’s the perfect way to start the year!
WINTER CLEANING
When the Christmas decorations come down, it’s the perfect time to do a little “Spring cleaning” or even better “Winter cleaning”. Dusting, vacuuming, washing sofa cushions and pillows, ultimately doing a deeper cleanse of your home than normal. Getting into all the nitty gritty is a pain, but your home will thank you and look brand spankin’ new when it’s all said and done! I know I always feel so much better when my house is nice and clean!
Don’t forget about your work space. I came into the office to do a deep clean during the holiday break! I reorganized and cleaned out nooks and crannies that needed a little love in our office! It’s always so nice to come back after a holiday to a clean desk!
OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW
I received a number of new home decor items for Christmas and it was a great opportunity to replace the old with the new. I have yet to try the whole “Marie Kondo - Does this spark joy?” concept, but even then I’ve never had a hard time getting rid of shit! HA!
DISCUSS YOUR GOALS
Something a little more personal, but my husband and I always have a chat over coffee about our goals as individuals and as a couple. We don’t do anything fancy, like writing them down or make vision boards. Those boards seem to always find themselves in the closet, so we keep it simple. It’s important and special for us to discuss our goals and resolutions verbally so we are both on the same page!

CLOSET CLEANING
At the start of the new year I like to clean out all of the closets and cabinets in our house. Not only do I clean out my bedroom closet and get rid of items I haven’t worn in a while, I also go through my bathroom closets, the hallway closets and kitchen pantries! It feels so go to start the year with a clean wardrobe and cabinets!
CLEANSING YOUR BODY
Next I hit the refrigerator and start the year with a healthy diet! The refrigerator, itself, is always a place that gets a little neglected during my cleaning routine. At the beginning of the year I clean out the entire refrigerator, scrub down all of the shelves and organize everything inside.
In addition, I like to start the new year with a health cleanse. This month (January) I’m doing the Medical Medium’s Liver Cleanse to kick start my body for the new year and give it a break from all the indulgences that built up over the holidays. It’s a great preventative and essential for your body! Your body needs a little break sometimes and starting the new year with a cleanse is a no brainer for me!
REORGANIZE YOUR SPACE
I went through each room in my home and moved things around. Sometimes it’s nice to try things in new places. Moving furniture or decor around moves the energy in your space and makes you feel differently about certain spots or items in your home.
This is also a great opportunity to write down things you’d like to change in your home and start to plan on how you’d like to execute those ideas. Maybe it’s renovating a bathroom or upgrading your kitchen in some way. Maybe it’s as simple as buying new bedding for your master bedroom. Personally I like to create this list and write everything down so I have something physical to work towards and a goal to keep myself to!
